    people like me what? sorry , I don’t understand you…I mean, I read Factotum and that other one when he was a postman (forgot the title), they’re OK, he’s got style and all, but I guess I don’t really relate to all that überlowlife, drunken-macho stuff, and I think that he IS overrated, but that’s just my opinion.Peace.

    Exactly THIS is the diffrence! Bukowski was NOT just a drunken Macho!!! People who read one or two books have prejudices! Bukowski was MUCH MORE like a drunken Macho! An example? He was sensitive, he cared for Marina (his beloved daughter) and many other things… The book you mean is POST OFFICE. Read Ham on rye and you understand a little more about Bukowski…
    P.S. Don’t judge a writer when you don’t know ALL books and his other stuff he did… PEACE…

    I didn’t mean to be judgmental, and yes, I only read about 2 or 3 books of his, but I can’t imagine the other ones being any different is substance or style, i/e. it’s not “prejudice”, it’s just that I don’t think he is great, that’s just my subjective opinion, which contrary to mine, u have your own.However, I stick to my guns as to this coward display of senseless macho violence, whether calculated for the camera, or as a true revealing aspect of “the real Bukowski”-despicable! Peace, man!

    Didn’t mean to b judgmental,..yes I only read 2or 3 of his books, but can’t imagine any of the others having anything different in terms of actual substance and/or style. Differently than my subjective opinion (I don’t think he’s that great), u have your own…however, the senseless macho outburst of violence -whether calculated for the camera or out of being a hopeless drunk- is out of line, and makes him lose his argument.Peace, man

    egyptianminor…..go to a bookstore, poetry section:Bukowski. Find a book called ‘The Rooming House Madrigals’. Find the poem, ‘the night they took whitey’. Read it. That’s Bukowski.
